CLIMATE IMPACT.

THE CO2e FOOTPRINT OF THE BMW i5.

Every vehicle leaves behind a CO2e footprint throughout its life-cycle. This life-cycle includes the procurement, production, use and recycling or disposal of raw materials and other materials. CO2 equivalents (CO2e) are a unit of measurement to standardise the climate impact of different greenhouse gases, such as methane.

Emissions generated along the supply chain, by transport logistics and upstream energy provision, are reported as CO2e. Electricity produced from regenerative in-house generation systems, direct supply contracts and certified proof of origin are all taken into account when allowing for green electricity. Compensation measures are not included.

Your BMW i5 will be handed over to you with approx. 17.0 tonnes of CO2e.

During the usage phase of the vehicle, we adopt WLTP consumption and a mileage (km) of 200,000 km. The mode of generation of the electricity used here has a major influence on the climate impact of your vehicle. A small amount of 0.7 t is allowed for the inclusion of CO2e from the construction of the energy infrastructure.

Public charging within the BMW Charging Network ensures that the equivalent amount of energy consumed with each charge is fed back into the power grid as green electricity. Use of your own solar power you generate at home is possible with Connected Home Charging. This makes possible the locally emission-free use of the BMW i5.
