Certification.
All BMW Protection Vehicles undergo an extensive test programme. They are officially certified to the internationally recognised guideline for bulletproof vehicles, VPAM BRV 2009 & ERV 2010, 2nd edition. This ensures the very best protection for you.
Passenger cell.
The BMW X5 Protection VR6 features an armoured passenger cell of high-strength steel for an excellent degree of protection. It can withstand shots from an AK-47 (calibre 7.62 x 39 mm) and explosions of up to 12.5 kg PETN (TNT equivalent 15 kg) from a distance of four metres. Additional protection in the roof area and reinforced underbody armour increase protection against fragmentation charges and hand grenades.
Protection Core.
The BMW 7 Protection offers a high level of security against ballistic attacks and explosions. Tested in comprehensive studies and officially confirmed by the Beschussamt München (Munich Ballistics Agency). To ensure you can exit the vehicle in an emergency despite the strong armour, all passenger doors are available with an emergency exit feature.

Performance data of petrol engines apply to vehicles using RON 98 fuel. Fuel consumption data apply to vehicles using reference fuels in accordance with EU Regulation 715/2007. Unleaded RON 91 and higher with a maximum ethanol content of 10% (E10) may also be used. BMW recommends RON 95 fuel. For high-performance automobiles, BMW recommends RON 98 fuel.
Official data for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, power consumption and electric range was determined in accordance with the prescribed measuring procedure and corresponds to European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the applicable version. For ranges, data determined as per WLTP takes into account any optional equipment (available on the German market in this case). For vehicles that have been newly type approved since 1 January 2021, only the official data according to WLTP exists. In addition, NEDC values are deleted from the certificates of conformity as of 1 January 2023 by EC regulation 2022/195.
