BMW HEAD-UP DISPLAY.

The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display projects all information relevant to the journey directly into the driver's field of vision, allowing them to fully concentrate on driving. The display includes data such as the current speed and – depending on the equipment – navigation tips, Speed Limit Info incl. no-overtaking indicator, telephone and entertainment lists, along with information and warnings from the various driver assistance systems. The icons projected onto the windscreen are displayed in a particularly high resolution and in full colour. The image's projection appears as if it were approx. 2.3 m in front of the vehicle. This, in combination with optimal positioning, allows the information to be read quickly, conveniently and with minimal distraction. The brightness of the projection automatically adjusts to suit the external light conditions, with different displays for day and night, and the height of the display can also be adjusted. Furthermore, the driver can also select which information to display in addition to the current speed and warnings from the driver assistance systems.

TRAFFIC JAM ASSISTANT.

Traffic jam assistant eases the burden on the driver during monotonous driving situations. At speeds of up to 60 km/h, the system lets the car simply "glide along" with the other cars in dense traffic situations, making traffic jams less stressful. It automatically maintains the desired distance from the vehicle ahead and regulates the car's speed down to standstill, as well as providing active steering support. The vehicle is therefore able to help the driver stay in the correct lane, as long as the driver keeps at least one hand on the wheel. Having been at a complete standstill for up to 30 seconds, the car automatically starts moving again. Another milestone on the path to achieving highly automated driving.

iDRIVE TOUCH CONTROLLER.

Intuitive operation.

The iDrive Touch Controller gives you convenient control of the iDrive system with one hand. Thanks to the touchpad integrated in the Controller, you can easily enter such information as destinations for the navigation system using your own handwriting. You can also use it to access a wide range of functions and settings as well as for scrolling through lists. Operation is effortless and intuitive by means of touch – a great help for you as the driver since it barely distracts your concentration on the road. All functions operated using the Controller can be conveniently viewed in the Control Display.

BMW NIGHT VISION MIT DYNAMIC LIGHT SPOT.

BMW Night Vision with Dynamic Light Spot can detect people and larger animals at night – even at a significant distance – and illuminate them.
An infrared camera mounted on the BMW kidney grille transmits images of people and animals directly onto the Control Display.
Intelligent early warning system with a bright outlook: As soon as the infrared sensors detect pedestrians or larger animals on a potential collision course in the dark, the system directs two separately controlled Dynamic Light Spots onto them, without any unpleasant dazzling effect. This light ensures that both the driver and the person approaching are very effectively warned of a potentially hazardous situation.
The driver receives additional warnings on the full-colour BMW Head-Up Display or on the instrument cluster if the thermal imaging display has been activated. If there is an acute risk of collision with detected individuals or animals, an acoustic alarm is also sounded and the brakes are prepared for imminent action. BMW Night Vision with Dynamic Light Spot is an innovation from BMW ConnectedDrive.

BMW SELECTIVE BEAM.

The BMW Selective Beam makes night-time driving even more pleasant and safe for you. It provides excellent visibility in the dark without dazzling other drivers.
BMW Selective Beam detects other road-users and selectively excludes them from the high-beam headlight distribution. Beam ranges of 400 m ensure early detection of risks and improved directional tracking.

PARK ASSISTANT.

The Park Assistant makes it easier for you to find a suitable parking space and actively helps you park.
Whether activated or not, the system measures potential spaces while driving past at a low speed (below 35 km/h) and at a maximum distance of 1.5 m from the row of parked cars.
When a large enough gap has been found, the driver turns on the indicator and the Park Assistant takes over the steering, while the driver is responsible for selecting the correct gear, as well as pressing the accelerator and brakes. The system also gives instructions in the Control Display and additional acoustic signals. So the driver can stay relaxed and enjoy greater safety while parking.

CAMERA SYSTEMS.

Park Distance Control, Surround View, Rear View Camera: Enjoy a clear view in the area around your vehicle when manoeuvring into parking spaces and at road exits. Park Distance Control (PDC) at the front and rear allows you to park safely and comfortably thanks to optical and acoustic signals.
Surround View shows your vehicle in the Control Display with the aid of a projection from above. The accompanying Side View system guarantees a better overview when visibility is poor at road exits. The Rear View Camera provides welcome support when you are reversing into parking spaces at speeds of less than 20 km/h.

ACTIVE PROTECTION.

Active Protection is the BMW ConnectedDrive preventive occupant protection system.
After the front safety belts are buckled, they are automatically pretensioned when the car starts moving. If a critical situation arises on the road, the front safety belts are reversibly pretensioned, if required. If there are comfort seats, the front passenger seat backrest is brought to an upright position. The side windows are closed − as is the sliding roof, if there is one. A critical situation would include an emergency stop made by the driver or if the automobile demonstrated excessive understeer or oversteer.
When the vehicle is fitted with approach control warning or approach control warning with light braking function, potential collisions with moving or stationary vehicles ahead can be recognised in advance (within the system’s limits).
In certain accident situations, the system can bring the vehicle to a standstill without any intervention from the driver. This helps to reduce the likelihood of a follow-up collision and to minimise the damage caused by one.
The Attentiveness Assistant also monitors your behaviour for signs of fatigue. Your steering responses are analysed and the system reacts to irregular driving behaviour. A notification appears in the Control Display suggesting you take a break. The Attentiveness Assistant also monitors your behaviour for signs of fatigue.
