Climate impact BMW 5 Series Sedan G60 ICE

BMW VEHICLE FOOTPRINT

CLIMATE IMPACT.

THE CO2e FOOTPRINT OF THE BMW 5 SERIES SEDAN.

Every vehicle leaves a CO2 footprint throughout its entire life-cycle – from procurement and production to usage and recycling or disposal of raw materials and other materials. CO2 equivalents (CO2e) are a unit of measurement to standardise the climate impact of different greenhouse gases, such as methane.

Emissions generated along the supply chain, by transport logistics and upstream energy provision, are reported as CO2e. Electricity produced from regenerative in-house generation systems, direct supply contracts and certified proof of origin are all taken into account when allowing for green electricity. Compensation measures are not included.

Your BMW 520i will be handed over to you with 11.1 t of CO2e.

For vehicles with combustion engines, the largest percentage of CO2e is generated during their usage phase, based on WLTP consumption and a mileage (km) of 200,000 km. We therefore place great emphasis on efficiency measures in the design process and also provide an insight into driving statistics in the My BMW app.

Emission values in the life-cycle assessment are model- and equipment-specific, and are given here for the BMW 520i. The figures throughout the various life-cycle phases will differ for other models we offer.

In a corresponding diesel model, such as the 520d, the CO2e emissions in BMW production and end-of-life are at the same level, although they amount to 30.9 t CO2e during the usage phase. The emissions in the supply chain and logistics are slightly (< 1 t) above the combustion engine model figure.
